About
House.ProtoWrxs.com
Last Update: 09/13/01
http://House.ProtoWrxs.com is a web server running on my Home Automation PC providing statistics and control to my Home Automation (HA) system. General public access provides statistics and baseline information only. With authentication, some controls are currently possible with others in the works. Details on the existing setup can be found on my primary HA web site at http://www.ProtoWrxs.com/HA
The site is written in Microsoft Active Server Pages (ASP) providing the ability to create my own DLL files for system interactivity. The TimeCommand+ system simply sends status info to the PC that the ASP pages read and display to the user. Using the component ASPExec, DOS or Windows programs can be run on the serving machine providing remote access to functions if the user is validated.
Using the Text-To-Speech DDE Server software I threw together, I can even have the web server announce when a new users hits the web site and read out his IP or just play a sound... gets real old fast but fun to play with.
One of the the down and out things I've noticed is that when WinEVM is downloading a schedule to the TC+, the webserver does not function... guess that 9600 baud com port is too much for the box to handle :-) Additionally I haven't found a reliable way to control WinEVM from another app... simply relying on my SENDEVM.EXE program using the 'Sendkeys' function for now.
See the FULL SYSTEM DESCRIPTION for more information.
