Update 01/2003:
Both HVAC units have been replaced with Carrier WeatherMaker 8000VS and 58TXA HVAC units. These are variable speed, scroll compressor systems that use a Thermistat controller to handle home comfort settings.
As of 01/2003 I am looking at the options to tap into the system status
for each area of control; Heat, Cool, Fan, Humidify, and De-Humidify to
at least track system activity. The 8000VS does have a 'data port' but
technical information is lacking. Due to the multiple input requirements
(10 total) I am looking at using a BX24 microcontroller to handle
logging and report this data back to the HA Server PC for status,
logging and analysis.
